Unusual or "non-standard" Solutions
We at VoxCom Voice & Data Solutions pride ourselves on our ability to work closely with a customer in order to solve a very unique challenge. Some examples of solutions developed by our staff include:
CHALLENGE: A customer was moving from existing location to new building some twenty miles away. They wanted to move one department at a time over the course of several months - without disrupting telephone service and without their callers knowing that a change was underway.
SOLUTION: Set up duplicate PBX at new site with a temporary voice network via T1 circuit that allowed seamless calling and call transfer from one location to the other. As staff moved to new location, they carried their own telephone and once connected to new site, it functioned just as it had at old site. Centralized voice messaging allowed internal and external callers to continue as before. Calls coming to either location could be fielded and transferred seamlessly. Smiles all around.
CHALLENGE: Customer had a legacy serial printer several hundred feet away from Unix tower that drove it. Lots of metal - lots of lightning. Constant problem.
SOLUTION: Replaced copper cable feeding printer with fiber and installed two fiber-to-serial converters. Lightning trouble vanished.
CHALLENGE: Burglar alarm monitoring company wanted to improve outbound dialing speed and accuracy. With every alarm, their agents would manually dial the home or business to verify the alarm. If they received an "unusual" response from the phone company (i.e. "your call cannot be completed as dialed") the agent would hang up and dial again, to ensure that they had dialed correctly. Very time consuming in emergency situation.
SOLUTION: Working closely with customer's database application vendor, we created a computerized link between their computer mainframe and telephone system that allowed agents to dial using a single keystroke on their computer keyboard. The dialing was always very fast and very accurate - reducing the time required for this segment of the operation by more than 50%.
